Christmas goodies still available from Whisked Away Baked Goods in Pratt

The big rush of preparation for the Gamma Beta Craft Fair is over, but Morgan Schmidt of Whisked Away Baked Goods is still making, selling, and delivering, special baked items for Christmas. Schmidt, whose day job is at Liberty Middle School as a district paraprofessional, said she made 9 dozen sugar cookies and 10 dozen other cookies for the recent vendor/craft show in Pratt.

Pratt County bull rider competes in National Finals Rodeo

It’s been a long, hard season for Pratt County bull rider JR Stratford, but securing a spot as a National Finals Rodeo qualifier has made it all worthwhile for the 20-year-old from Byers, Kansas. Last Friday, Stratford said riding in the 2022 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas was a dream come true, and even a painful arm injury would not keep him from competing.

Buzzing in for the team

On November 28, five area teams competed in the St. John-Hudson High School’s Annual Scholars Bowl Invitational Tournament: Central Plains, Ellinwood, Macksville, Pratt-Skyline, and St. John-Hudson. It was a true community event with many local volunteers and helpers.

That’s how the cookie crumbles

Hundreds and hundreds of cookies were sold at the 37th Annual Gamma Beta Craft Show in Pratt last Saturday, with money raised going to support two local persons in need. With more than 60 vendors providing a plethora of baked goods, clothing, jewelry, handmade crafts, decor, blankets as part of the craft fair, the crowds came to the Pratt Municipal Center to enjoy the pervading holiday atmosphere, get gifts for themselves and others, and buy cookies.
