So this is education now

Proverbs 18:15 “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” Education is defined as “the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.” Another definition I really like is “an enlightening experience.” With a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education and two years of graduate school ( one year in Industrial Education and a second in Education), I stand amazed at how ignorant I am. The more I learn, the more I hunger.

Christmas displays await visitors at Pratt County Historical Museum

Christmas cookies, drinks, live holiday music and a glistening array of seasonal decorations await those who come to the Pratt County Historical Museum’s open house and Christmas extravaganza from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 4 at 208 S. Ninnescah, Pratt. “We’ve had so much fun preparing all the different areas for Christmas,” said museum director Charmaine Swanepoel. “It’s totally different every year and we just can’t wait to share the Christmas spirit with everyone.”

Soup lunch is Dec. 4 for Stocking Stuffers fundraiser

Stocking Stuffers of Central Kansas was founded in 2011 by best friends, Rachel Fisher and Hannah Sallee. The two set out to achieve a goal of providing Christmas gifts to local children. On average, the two shop, wrap, and deliver gifts to 65 children in the St. John and Hudson area each year. Forms are sent home with children and then the two shop from the Christmas list each family provides.

Keep moving with the seniors in St. John

Activities for Sunflower Senior Center include toe nail clinic for January on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, the 5th and 19th. Pitch playing pals gather on Wednesday afternoons. Other activities are “Keep It Moving” Class Monday and Thursday mornings, Coffee & Conversation on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The afternoons are quieter with Rummykub games and jig saw puzzle enthusiasts. Always on the last Wed. afternoon is “bring a candy bar to play” BINGO, with grand prizes provided by St. John-Hudson Recreation Commission.
