Winter is a great time for outdoors exploration

Taking a day trip to a Kansas State Park in the fall or winter has certain advantages, notably the absence of ticks, mosquitoes, and other irritants. Also, it’s not so hot outside. If you plan your trip well or are lucky, you may enjoy pleasant temperatures in the 50s and 60s with little wind. Incidentally, midweek is a great time to visit a state park, as you will probably have the space entirely to yourself.

I don’t want the people that read page A 8 to think that we, the writers, know each other. We have never met. Not once have we ever had a writers meeting. Yet somehow, it seems that we know a little about each other.

Everett honored for irrigation sales

T-L Irrigation Company, leading manufacturer of hydrostatically powered pivot irrigation systems, has awarded local Preston resident, Jaron Everett, their “Top Performer” sales award for 2022. Jaron is T-L’s District Sales Manager for their central region, which includes Kansas, southern Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Southern California.

Reba McEntire recognizes El Dorado teacher for arts contributions

Within her home community of El Dorado, the name Katie Banks-Todd is recognized by most. A 1997 product of El Dorado High School, she graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree of Vocal Music Performance, then moved to New York to pursue her dreams. She performed on Broadway and on the national tour with ‘Phantom of the Opera’. After her success in New York, she returned to El Dorado with new dreams; to start a family with her supportive husband Patrick, and to help young theatre students to pursue their own. She has been supporting EHS students for the past 11 years as the drama director and for the past 3 years as the director of the choir department.
