A military story of gratitude

Sometimes life doesn’t always pass out the best hand of cards, but James Norrish of Pratt, a Veteran of the United State Air Force, has learned that being willing to play with what has been dealt is enough. Norrish, who grew up at Callista near the Zenda Road, served as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force from 1968-72, with time spent in Vietnam.

Staff and volunteers at the B-29 Bombers on the Prairie Museum have added another 500th Bomb Group fellow to the display options with the new Robert Rainey “Hog Wild” exhibit. The B-29 Superfortress “Hog Wild” was part of the 882nd Bomber Squadron, 500th Bomber Group, 73rd Bomber Wing. Rainey was the Co-pilot on B-29 “Hog Wild” when it was shot down mistakably by Russian fighters, while on a POW relief mission after the war. All the crew survived and made it home.

As your State Treasurer, I will continue to hold the state and the pension fund’s investment professionals accountable for the choices they make and the processes they go through to make those choices, but I will also fight to preserve their freedom to use the best tools they can find to get the job done.
