School closures saved lives

educationfrontlines@yahoo.com Across the U.S., politicians are running campaigns asserting that statewide school closures in 2020 were not only unnecessary but totally useless in stemming the spread of COVID-19. Medical research based on actual records of hospitalizations and deaths in the early months of the pandemic clearly shows that substantially more deaths would have occurred if the schools would have been kept open.

Kids Carnival a special project by PRMC communications director

Pratt, but that didn’t stop her from jumping in to help coordinate a Kids Carnival with Pratt Regional Medical Center sponsorship for Pratt Jam this past weekend. A recent addition at PRMC as Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Dillard moved to Pratt from Wichita with her family. Though new to the community, she said the opportunity to take part in something so special as a small, hometown festival was too good to pass up.

Diaz is living the dream as a KU trumpet player

Pratt-Skyline May 2022 graduate Angel Diaz is living the dream this fall as a member of the University of Kansas Marching Band. Though it’s National Hispanic Heritage Month and family is very important to him, Diaz is focused on the here and now as he learns new marching drills each week and spends just about every waking minute with his Jayhawk band members at a time when excitement on that campus is high with recent football success.

Greenback football tops Smoky Valley 47-30 for homecoming

Pratt High School hosted the Smoky Valley Vikings for their October 7 football homecoming game and a large crowd came out to cheer on the Greenbacks despite sub-50-degree temperatures. With Pratt Jammers in town for reunions, Homecoming announcements, band performances and special Hall of Fame inductions, there was a lot going on to watch whether the game clock was ticking or not.
