Bike ride to Kirwin was satisfying

What will $30 get you these days? Answer: a nice, longsleeved shirt, a satisfying meal, and a 31 mile ride through a national wildlife refuge. That’s what 35 or so persons from a wide geographic area recently enjoyed, as they descended upon Kirwin, KS for “A Ride on the Wild Side.” This was the fourth annual event, which is sponsored by the Phillips County Convention and Visitors Bureau and also coincides with Old Settlers Day.

KIOWA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL

Kiowa County High School tennis players Liberty Gilkey and Elizabeth Sneed placed second in doubles and qualified for State as runner-ups at 1A Regional Tennis last week in Scott City. The Maverick duo played four matches on Friday and Saturday, defeating Goodland, (Horinek/Lundgren) 6-2, 6-1, Meade (Reimer/ Reimer) 6-0, 6-0, Cimarron (Buchholz/Housman) 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals, and Sterling (Rowland/ Wilson) in a great matchup final.

Just a bit more time to get tickets for epic performances at Barclay College

In one more month, Barclay College Theatre opens with their fall production, “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” Tickets are still available for the show Friday, November 11, in the Ross-Ellis Center for Arts and Ministry on the Barclay College Campus. The play will run through November 20. Acclaimed playwright Joseph Robinette has adapted the beloved C.S. Lewis novel of the same name to a staged version containing all the magic of the book. The story follows the four Pevensie children in their adventures in Narnia, a world only reached through a large wooden wardrobe.
