K-State off to a good start

The 1-0 Kansas State Wildcats will welcome a familiar foe as long-time Big 8/12 rival the Missouri Tigers come to Manhattan for a 11 a.m. kickoff at Bill Snyder Family Stadium a game that will be televised on ESPN2 and a sold-out stadium will be on display.

Teacher receives $95,000 after refusing to use student’s preferred name and pronouns

A Kansas school district has agreed to pay $95,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a former teacher who refused to use a student’s preferred name and pronouns, according to her lawyers. Pamela Ricard, a former math teacher at Fort Riley Middle School, sued the district in March, alleging she was reprimanded and suspended for three days in April 2021 for addressing a student by their “legal and enrolled last name” instead of their preferred one.

Archery lessons offered for community participation

The Pratt High School Archery team is once again working with Blythe Family Fitness and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to offer evenings of archery instruction to the community. Led by sponsor Michelle Popovich, students in the archery program will provide training for those who have never done archery before and an opportunity to practice and improve skills for more experienced archers on a monthly basis.
