AG Schmidt proposes major four-lane highway as priority to grow Southern Kansas
PITTSBURG – Kansas Attorney General and Republican Nominee for Governor Derek Schmidt last week announced his intention to prioritize as governor a fourlane highway connecting Southeast Kansas, Wichita, and Southwest Kansas in the state’s transportation system in order to bring meaningful and sustainable growth to Kansas.
Drought assistance offered for Kansas livestock producers
USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds drought-impacted producers in Kansas that they may be eligible for assistance through the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP). ELAP provides financial assistance for water transportation and for above normal costs of transporting feed to livestock or transporting livestock to forage/ grazing acres.

USDA to invest $5M in the Wetland Mitigation Banking Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that it is investing up to $5 million in the Wetland Mitigation Banking Program(WMBP). This grant program supports the development of mitigation banks for use by agricultural producers seeking to maintain eligibility for USDA programs. Funds are available to Tribes, state and local government entities, nonprofits and other organizations.
