Golden Belt Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for the County and Community Grant

GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Golden Belt Community Foundation invites proposals for its upcoming grant opportunities. Applications now are being accepted from qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and public institutions, including schools, government entities, and clubs and civic/community organizations in Barton county for charitable programs and projects.

Pratt Jam to bring fun for all this October

By Eric Killough Freelance reporter Special to the Tribune Friday, October 7, and Saturday, October 8, will be a weekend to remember for those with Pratt connections as Back to Pratt Jamboree, or as it’s more popularly referred to, Pratt Jam, will be celebrated this year in Pratt. Pratt native Kurt McAfee will act as master-of-ceremonies for the many events associated with an event that has been more than three years in the making, and was began to as a class reunion celebration weekend for those who graduated as Greenbacks.

Accidents just outside Pratt County restrict highway traffic

Truck roll-over accidents restricted travel through Pratt on major highways in the past few days. On Sunday, August 21, a single semi-rollover resulted in the closure of U.S. Highway 281 north of town just at the Pratt County line for several hours. Then early Monday morning, a double semi accident closed down U.S. Highway 54/400, creating a significant traffic situation for several hours due to the fatality scene just west of Kingman next door to Pratt County.

The bearcat has us trained

Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Our cat has us trained; or maybe I should say, “We’re his humans.” Since The Bearcat has lived here, we’ve noticed he most always has a method determined to have his way. If he’s hungry he sits at the patio door and meows until we let him in; then goes to the refrigerator, looks up at it, then back at Margie or me, until we get out his cat food.
