1000 books and beyond prepares kids for school

Addison Wood is READY for Kindergarten! Especially now that she’s read more than 1,000 books and completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Macksville City Library. Addison, the daughter of David & Ema Wood, is the newest member to be featured on the library’s Mini-Mustang Wall of Fame! When asked about her favorite books, Addison was quick to point out books featuring Daniel Tiger and Pete the Cat.

Pratt Mayor expected to recover fully from fractured vertebrae

On July 2, while diving into the lake at Elm Mills from a rope swing, Pratt Mayor Zach Deeds landed in shallow water. The accident caused the fracture of four vertebrae, two in his back and two in his neck. Friends of the mayor drove him to Pratt Regional Medical Center in one of their vehicles. On the way, they called ahead and informed Pratt’s EMS of the situation.

Tradition versus scriptures

In all ages of the world there have been those who cling to the idea of unwritten traditions. Jesus in Mark 7:1-8 speaks of the “tradition of the elders”, and refers to those who practice such as “hypocrites” and goes on to say that their worship is in vain and that their hearts are far from God. When we study the traditions of man, we find that they are unworthy of our faith and trust.

Not going to get there on our good works

Well if you know me you know I love weddings, any kind of wedding. I’ve been coordinating weddings and big events since I was 15 years old. In fact, when my husband was pastoring we gave away free weddings with a cake and punch reception. I provided all the decorations designed specifically for each bride. Our Church Ladies provided the cakes and punch according to the bride’s colors. I would spend weeks ahead of each wedding planning the decor, then a couple of days setting up tables and chairs as well as assuring the decor was just right. Because there is a lot of preparation that goes into weddings.
