It was a dreary noon, school recess on the Cunningham Grade School playground. I quietly and privately asked my older friend what an abortion was, the answer she gave me was forthright and to the point. She had had time to process the grisly inhumane information. I was SHOCKED! She let me know by not only her words, but the look on her face, that she was feeling everything I was—disgust, disapproval, sadness, shock, fear, and so much more. Evidently I had heard the word on the nightly news and instinctively knew that it was a serious subject, deadly serious!
