ROME (AP) — Pope Francis urged the Catholic faithful Wednesday to stop exploiting the old Latin Mass for ideological reasons and to start discovering the beauty of the new liturgy that grew from the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.
Whatever we are concerned about today, faith and discernment are key components of our prayers. Without spiritual sensitivity, we do not understand God’s will and faith is what empowers and activates our communication with Him. We believe in miracles because we know that God listens and is the only one who has the authority to restore and provide. If someone is having a health crisis, the Bible declares that He is the Great Physician and our healer. This is exciting truth until doubt and fear sneak in the back door and Satan repeats the same strategy to deceive as he did with Adam and Eve in the garden. His favorite temptation is to plant seeds of uncertainty and confusion in our minds to question whether faith is real or our imagination. In our times of trouble, we are bombarded with speculations and opinions, but we must become unmovable in knowing that the report of the Lord cannot fail.

HAVILAND - Barclay College has announced that it will offer the nursing degree completion program where a Registered Nurse (R.N.) can progress to Bachelors of Science (B.S.N.) in Nursing. The program will be offered through Barclay College online starting in the fall 2022-23 semester.

Motorists and Kiowa County residents may have noticed an increase of bicycle riders on the busy U.S. Hwy 54/400 near the end of June. Many of those cyclists were part of the Race Across America 2022, which started on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Oceanside, California and end on Chesapeake Bay, an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, in Annapolis, Maryland.

Brandon Brown of Greensburg started a new job as the Executive Director of the Kiowa County Historical Museum and Soda Fountain last Monday, but he won’t be quitting his old job any time soon. Brown, who has worked as housing director for the Iroquoius Mental Health Center since 2004, said he was excited to take on leadership for the Kiowa County attractions and it was fitting together nicely with his other job responsibilities.
