Modus operandi keeps changing

Covid-confusion is a good word to describe the varying approaches to screening for this disease at various hospitals, nursing and related facilities in the area. My work with the area agency on aging takes me to such facilities in Barber, Comanche, Kiowa, Pratt, and Stafford counties.

Americare, which operates a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in Pratt and several others locations, has once again participated in the Great Place to Work® surveys to measure its own progress and compare itself to other companies participating in the annual program. For 2022 results just released, Americare has recorded strong advances in virtually every category, and was again designated as a Great Place to Work-Certified™ organization.

Yes, I am my brother’s keeper—and so much more

For the first time in our lives, we have experienced a universal international event, known as COVID-19. The World Series doesn’t come close to being a global event. The World Cup and the Olympics are much more global, but even these events bypass certain parts of the globe (and many around us have no interest in these sporting events). All of us, however, have been impacted by COVID-19. We have all, at times, been wearing masks, monitoring our social distancing, and discussing the pros and cons of various treatments and vaccines.

Senator Pyle of Kansas calls on AG to prevent shredding of election documents during audit

On Friday April 22, 2022, the Kansas Legislative Post Audit Committee approved 11L, my proposal to audit election procedures and practices. It has come to my attention that K.S.A. 25-2708 and K.S.A. 25-2709 require the retention of election records. In this vein, we are requesting copies of correspondence where you have notified the Secretary of State and county election officials of their responsibility to secure and not allow the shredding or discarding of any election records during the course of the audit.
