Hedrick bench placed at Lemon Park in memory of local dog-walker

Long-time Pratt Lions Club member Steven Hedrick, who passed away in July 2020 along with his faithful dog, has been memorialized by a bench, placed last week in Pratt’s Lemon Park. “Steve walked his dog here every day and we often met along the sidewalk and stopped to visit,” said friend Karen Detwiler, who along with her husband John Detwiler spearheaded the project to place a bench in memory of Steve in the park.

New exhibits ready for the public at B-29 Bombers on the Prairie Museum

By Jennifer Stultz Editor Fresh on the heals of Memorial Day and special open house hours, the staff at the B-29 Bombers on the Prairie Museum just north of Pratt invite old and new visitors to stop by and see six new exhibits that have been prepared for the public. Board members at the museum, located at 82 Curran Road near the Pratt Regional Airport, have spent countless hours organizing submitted information that documents people and events related to the Pratt Army Air Field which existed from 1943 – 1945 and later became the location of the current Pratt Regional Airport.

Bird-watching is an amazing experience

Sometimes the best moments of my day are those minutes stolen in a lawn chair next to my barn where I converse with my two goats Polkadots and Nelly-Belle. Early mornings about 30 minutes after sunrise and late evenings about 30 minutes before sunset have recently netted some amazing bird-watching sights and sounds as I sit with my four-legged friends after the chores are done.

The big truck-check blitz

Did you know that there was a 72 hour safety inspection blitz on May 17 through the 19th? Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance makes a big deal about this. Why do they do this? In my opinion, they want to bring attention to themselves, acting like they are doing something special.
