While a few serious issues continue to be debated in committee and the courts, basically the 2022 legislative session is a wrap. And once again, Medicaid expansion didn’t pass.

With the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law last November—a $1.3 trillion investment in our nation’s infrastructure—major funding is now available to rural communities. These funds can be used to rebuild roads and bridges, invest in high-speed internet access and clean drinking water, and upgrade electric power infrastructure.

Dirtwork near the Iuka Elevators on Kanza Cooperative-owned land north of Pratt has raised questions about what might be going on there, but Kanza Cooperative Communications and Marketing Manager Jackie Mundt said Monday that no new building is being planned for that area at the moment.
