Special collaboration results in community health program

White’s Foodliner, St. John, Kansas, has collaborated with USD 350 St. John-Hudson students to build a spring end cap display. Students in Mrs. Patterson’s Nutrition and Wellness and Baking and Pastries classes and Mrs. Clark’s Business Essentials and Computer Applications classes have worked together to create a Spring Into Snacks: Energy On The Go themed grocery end cap featuring ingredients available to purchase to make two different no-bake energy on the go snacks.

Delay some plantings for better results

Delay Planting Winter Squash and Pumpkins Though this time of the growing season is a good time to plant most of our warm-season crops such as tomatoes and peppers, it is best to delay planting of winter squash and pumpkins until about mid-June. Planting those two crops now will result in a crop that is mature enough to be attractive to the first generation of squash bugs in July.

Rotary celebrates 100 years, makes community donations, sponsors student award

The Rotary Club of Pratt celebrated their 100-year anniversary in February with a special centennial event with more than 70 members and distinguished guests attending a dinner, program, and champagne toast. Rotary #5680 District Governor Fred Heismeyer, District Governor-Elect Ivanhoe Love, and Assistant Governor Bob Obee were in attendance to commemorate the event and they joined guests in a special champagne toast to celebrate the past and begin the next 100 years.

PCC softball wins first conference game

Pratt, Kan. – The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers hosted the Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) Mavericks at the Green Sports Complex on Wednesday, April 13. The Beavers played away from Angood Field for the second time this season due to weather conditions. Northwest Tech entered the afternoon with only two conference wins coming against Pratt.
