Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to certain private nonprofit organizations in Norton and Phillips counties following the amendment to President Biden’s Feb. 17, 2022, major disaster declaration for Public Assistance as a result of severe storms and straightline winds that occurred Dec. 15, 2021, announced Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman (https://www.sba.gov/person/isabella-casillas-guzman) of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Private nonprofits that provide essential services of a governmental nature are eligible for assistance.

Conflict is a reality in every individual’s life, stress from which there is often no escape; it comes with living in a human world (Myers). However, conflict can be healthier than most people think. A society with the opportunity to experience conflict must learn how to deal with it and be better prepared when it occurs in the future if they want to remain civil. A critical factor in understanding the nature of any conflict is not to focus on why it happened but on how it gets resolved. Is the opposing faction treated with respect in seeking resolution, and are their interests considered? Do oppose sides approach the negotiating table with a warm and friendly demeanor; are they hell-bent on violence or pushing a socio-political agenda? This is the most critical factor in conflict resolution and determining the health of any relationship, family, community, or society.

Travelers find kindness in Haviland

When Kenoa Balaou made a joke to his father Kai about biking across the country for charity, never did he or his father believe they actually would. Yet they sat in an apartment that was hundreds of miles from their starting point in Kentucky with their electric bicycles situated out front and their therapy cat Midnight in tow. With support of the Alzheimer’s foundation, with a dollar for dollar match. They are also supported by a bike app company and the Wounded Warrior Project with all the money. The reason for the choice of these foundations is that Kai is a veteran from the Air Force so Kai has seen how all the money goes to help people who are directly affected by injury, mental illness, and other troubles.
