Prater, Wilson and community volunteers engage more than 90 Pratt-area kids in local wrestling club

DANIEL PRATER sets a masterful example as head coach of the Pratt Wrestling Club. The 2004 graduate of Pratt High, where he enjoyed one of the most storied individual wrestling careers in school history, clearly has earned the respect of his student-athletes, their parents and the local community.

2021—The Year in K–12 Education – What did we learn?

“It has been tough!” lament many teachers and school administrators. Before 2020, the numbers of college students pursuing K–12 teaching credentials was already falling, and shortages were growing in science, special education—and in some geographic regions—all fields of teaching. Now only the more affluent schools have been able to maintain qualified teachers.

Bergner receives K-State College of Education award for excellence, along with others

MANHATTAN — Lindsey Berner of Pratt was one of eight new graduates of Kansas State University’s College of Education to received an award from the college for excellence, potential and promise. Recent awards included the fall 2021 Outstanding Undergraduate Student awards given to five outstanding graduates; the fall 2021 Outstanding Future Teacher awards in elementary education and secondary education; and the fall 2021 Outstanding Graduate Student in Education award.

Skyline school board members hear bleacher project updates, learn about student drone activities

The Skyline Board of Education meeting December 13,2021 was filled with various presentations and reports. To kick off the meeting, Skyline High School student Jude Nelson presented a drone that he coded himself. He said that he coded it for his robotics class, and it took him about a month of class time to finish it.
