KDWP Expands Research Footprint with Additional Office in Emporia

PRATT – A second Emporia location will provide the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) with additional storage, laboratory and office space, affording Emporia Research and Survey staff the ability to scale future research efforts. KDWP purchased the former Dynamic Discs building at 3601 W. Sixth Ave. earlier this fall. The agency’s location at 1830 Merchant St. will remain its full-service office for public services such as fishing and hunting licenses, boat registrations, and park permits.

Religious Exemption or Legislative-Sanctioned Lying?

Imagine a courtroom where a witness can take the stand without any utterance of telling the truth! No hand on the Bible. No “So help me, God.” As more states enact religious exemptions for use against federal vaccination mandates on large businesses and agencies receiving federal money, some are even going to the extreme of preventing any check into the veracity of the religious exemption claim.

Should we commend Gov. Kelly or ask her to take a closer look?

ON NOVEMBER 24, 2021 the Kiowa County Signal printed a column that came from Gov. Laura Kelly’s Office or from the Topeka Capital Journal as part of a scripted page that Kansas papers were required to print. It was an editorial commending Gov. Kelly’s plan to eliminate food tax. I live in Mullinville, Kansas but have had some crimes committed against me since 2019 around Garden City. Many crimes since May 2021. Some one had broken my windshield on my semi truck over the weekend back in Nov. 20, 2021. They seem to target my farm equipment, taking a starter and battery, taking hydraulic cylinders and hoses off my drill, flattening tires. The Sherriff in my county quit his job this year as well. Some of his deputies had quit before to pursue careers in other fields.

Esports update: Greenback teams find success in gaming groups

THE PRATT HIGH School eSports team recently wrapped up their season, learning valuable skills along the way. eSports is a sporting event in which teams compete head-to-head in various video games. PHS head eSports coach Brandon Wade said that they competed in three games: Overwatch, Valorant, and Rainbow Six Siege. Overwatch and Valorant are played on PC, while Rainbow Six Siege is played on Xbox. Other games such as Rocket League and League of Legends are also offered to students who may be interested in joining.
