Ellis earns U.F.O. status

THIS YEAR Robert Ellis, resident and elder statesman of the Haviland, Kansas community, earned the status of U.F.O. Not the extraterrestrial kind tracked by the United States Airforce since 1953, instead as an esteemed member of the United Flying Octogenarians. The United Flying Octogenarians [hereafter U.F.O.] began as a non-profit organization in 1982 for senior pilots, eighty years of age and older, who mutually share a love for aviation (Staff).

Round barn in need of new roof

The Kiowa County Commissioners met in regular session on December 20, at 9 am. After hearing the County Health Department report, the Commissioners approved a consent agenda and a four percent cost of living increase for County employees. Also, they renewed the contract for building control software, adopted a resolution to participate in the Kansas opioid settlement, heard a report take medical claims are running $100,000 below projections for the year; and listened to a request from the Kiowa County Historical Society to assist in financing the re-roofing of the Round Barn.

The Lemon Park Christmas Lights display has long been a seasonal favorite of local citizens and for many with or without ties to Pratt. More than 80 lighted displays are up for walking or drive by viewing from the end of November until throught the first week of January in Pratt’s Lemon Park.

A positive screening includes any of the following: fever, any listed COVID-19 symptoms or if answers exposure questions positively. Patients seeking care will ALWAYS be allowed in regardless of positive screening.
