Lanterman honored for her long-standing commitment to parks

PRATT – Linda Lanterman of Pratt, State Parks director for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, was recently honored with the Fran P. Mainella Award by the Clemson University Institute for Parks (CUIP). Lanterman was gifted the award in recognition of her long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion in our nation’s parks, to include her home state of Kansas.

Mother-daughter restaurant owners keep El Trancazo open, in business

Last year, COVID-19 negatively impacted several local businesses and restaurants in Pratt. Located near the railroad tracks along U.S. Highway N. 281 in Pratt, owners of the El Trancazo Mexican Restaurant have not been unused to difficulties, persevering through 2020 and 2021 by lowering prices for take-out boxes and creating bundles. Many small businesses that were just starting out closed permanently, but Gregoria Cordero and her daughter Alajandra Cordero were determined to keep El Trancazo open.

Pratt FFA members experience success at parliamentary contest

The Pratt FFA (Future Farmers of America) senior rituals team received 1st place at their regional competition for parliamentary procedure in November. This team is made up of several members and the majority serve as officers for the organization. Team members include junior Tayt Myers, junior Luke Huslig, senior Addie Hoeme, sophomore Allie Hoeme, senior Maddie Drake, junior Kena Sterling, and junior Angel Hernandez. These members are in charge of a variety of tasks and activities. These include leading all FFA events and meetings, competing in agricultural competitions such as meat workshops and dairy judging, and planning FFA-related school events.

Skyline Schools become community partner for Track and Soccer Complex

Pratt Community College (PCC) and the Management Committee (MC) of the Track and Soccer Complex (TSC) are pleased to announce the addition of USD 438 Skyline Schools as a Community Partner. This milestone means that Skyline Schools will be able to schedule events at the new Track and Soccer Complex located adjacent to the Green Sports Complex in Pratt.
