Meeting set on U.S. 400 bridge replacements at Mullinville

The Kansas Department of Transportation is hosting an open house meeting on Sept. 21 in Mullinville to share proposed plans for a U.S. 400 bridge replacements project east of the city.

The project would redesign the U.S. 54/U.S. 400 junction and replace two bridges on U.S. 400 (over U.S. 54 and the Union Pacific Railroad) with one structure to provide more vertical clearance and increase the road width.

The project team is also exploring possible intersection improvements at U.S. 54 and 10th Avenue and at U.S. 54/U.S. 400 and 15th Avenue. The project is in the preliminary design phase.

The public meeting will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Mullinville Rec Gym, 200 S. Main St.

The meeting will be a come-and-go event with no formal presentation; those who attend will be able to view proposed plans and speak with project staff.

Project information will also be posted online at the time of the meeting at https://ike.ksdot.gov/us400-kiowa-county. The webpage will be updated as the project progresses and more information becomes available.
