Candidate for Kansas Governor supports congressional term limits

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the national, non-partisan movement to limit terms for elected officials, is gathering support from state lawmakers across the nation. Its mission is to get 34 states to apply for an amendment proposal convention specific to term limits on Congress. Governor of Kansas candidate, Stacy Rogers, has committed support for term limits on Congress by signing the Term Limits Convention pledge.

Shoppers support The Bee and downtown event

Ladies Night Out on Thursday, October 16 brought hustle and bustle to Pratt’s Main Street shops, and to other places around town as well. There were grand openings to celebrate, such as at The Bee on Main, as well as a pending transition of ownership at The Flower Shoppe to take in, but the overall mood of the crowds flowing from one abode to another was that of fun and discovery.

Skyline Book Fair entices readers of all ages, raises funds

The Scholastic Book Fair has been around since the early 1980s, and it is a student favorite at Skyline Schools, Pratt. Who can remember walking into the library and finding table after table of books to buy? The luckiest students got to shop the inventory and purchase a book, and actually take it home. For a rural kid before Amazon and no experience with Borders or Barnes and Noble, the concept was intoxicating.

City of Pratt receives large donation for municipal building renovation

At its October 6 regular meeting, the Pratt City Commission passed two different measures related to renovation work on the Pratt Municipal Building on West 3rd Street. The renovation will specifically focus on replacing the building’s aging windows. The first act of the commission was to ratify a donor pledge for $350,000. This pledge was anonymous by request, so the version of the measure released to the press had the donor’s name redacted.
